Naval Air Station Pensacola, or NAS Pensacola, has been called "The Cradle of Naval Aviation," as it is the primary training base for all Navy and Marine aviators and Naval Flight Officers as well as the home to the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the precision-flying team known as the Blue Angels.This bustling Naval base sits on a truly scenic site with a background dating to Spanish explorer Don Tristan de Luna who founded a colony where NAS Pensacola's Fort Barrancas is now located. Today, NAS Pensacola is home to over 16,000 military personnel and 7,400 civilian employees.
The air station is also home to the Naval Air and Operational Medical Institute (NAOMI), providing training for all naval flight surgeons, aviation psysiologists and aviation experimental psychologists.
